The Office Anesthesia Evaluation (OAE) program is a comprehensive assessment of office-based anesthesia practices. It includes evaluation of office facilities, anesthesia equipment, patient monitoring standards, mock emergency drills, surveys, and required documentation. Detailed guidance, forms, and resources are available through the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS) website. If you have been contacted by AAOMS Member Engagement and Retention or by the Iowa Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons regarding an update to your Office Anesthesia Evaluation (OAE), please anticipate and stay in contact for a coordinated review process facilitated by the OAE team. At this time, Iowa OAE responsibilities have been delegated to the Society until a dedicated OAE officer is appointed.
