The Iowa Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (ISOMS) membership dues for 2026 are $300.00 per member.
To renew your membership, please submit payment by mailing a check payable to ISOMS to the following address:

If you are paying dues for multiple doctors in your practice, please clearly list the name(s) of each doctor on the memo line of the check (or include a separate note).

2. Iowa Dental Board – Membership Recruitment Request
Dr. Jon DeJong of the Iowa Dental Board is seeking applicants interested in serving on the Board to assist with management of practice-related matters.

3. New ISOMS Website
The new ISOMS website is now live:

The site was developed by Peter Cho using the Squarespace platform as an initial, non-professional version to establish baseline functionality and content. The platform may be upgraded to a professional tier at the request of the society. In the interim, ongoing support and incremental updates will continue.
Members are encouraged to reach out with any corrections or updates that are not currently reflected on the site. Existing content was compiled from materials previously stored in the Society’s Dropbox collection.

1. OAE Coordination
Dr. Potaczek will be departing Iowa and will transfer her OAE information to our board. We thank her for her dedicated service and wish her the best in her next chapter. If you are interested in position for OAE coordinator, please reach out to us directly at: iowasocietyomfs@gmail.com
2. Specialty Referral – Nerve Repair
Dr. Jeffrey Marschall (UIHC OMFS) is offering surgical management for lingual and trigeminal nerve repair. We are grateful for his expertise in this highly selective and complex field. While we hope these services will rarely be needed, we are fortunate to have this capability available in Iowa.

Once a referral is sent, UIHC OMFS will reach out to the patient to schedule their appointment.
3. State of Iowa Dental Moderate Sedation Legislation (153.25)
We’ve received an update from Josh Carpenter (IDA Government Affairs Director) and Sandy Guenther (AAOMS Director of State Government Affairs). Both have confirmed that the newly proposed/edited amendments remain consistent with our previous discussions. The bill is expected to be introduced during the 2026 legislative session.
